how can an old fat man win an athlete in a race at a bar when the old fat man had a 3 foot start?

During the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, I was in a restaurant/ bar in buckhead when Michael Johnson, the double gold medal winner in the 200 and 400 meter dashes came in. Johnson was bragging to a group of his friends that he was the fastest man in the world, that no one could beat him. After listening to his boasting for 30 minutes, i walked up to Johnson and said ” i’ll race you and you never beat me if you give me a three-foot head start and let me choose the course. Johnson looked at me and laughed ( i looked the like i look today—-a fat old man, although back then, i was only 54). The he said, “I’ll bet you two to one that i win, provided the course is longer than 10 feet.” I said, ” you’re on, Mr Johnson, and the bet is ten thousand dollars. Johnson looked at me in utter disbelief. “Easiest ten grand i ever mae,” he chuckled to his friends. Fiften minutes later i walked away with twenty thousand dollars and Johnson and his friends were devastated as 100 on lookers laughed at him. How did i manage to beat him? In other words, where did the race take place?
